Houston Llew Spiritiles: Depth Perception

Houston Llew Spiritiles

“Look deep into nature, and you will understand everything better.” —Albert Einstein

Every Spiritile has its own story that inspires, uplifts, and brings a hopeful connection to life. Handcrafted in Charleston, each is made with finely ground colored glass that is hand-painted, fused to copper in a kiln at 1500 degrees, and then wrapped around a wooden frame (see more here). Spiritiles can be hung on the wall or displayed freestanding, and withstand direct sun, humidity, and even outdoor conditions. Care and hanging information here.

Artist Statement About This Piece: While on a walk in the woods, you often look down among the roots and rocks to watch your step. You aim to be careful on your path, wishing to stay upright. But all the while, you move forward with eyes downcast. Where are you going so fast? You’re in nature, and nature isn’t in a hurry. Pause your step and look up every once in a while. The view—even through the trees—just might take your breath away.
