Houston Llew Spiritiles: Frosty

Houston Llew Spiritiles

“The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.” —Buddy the Elf

NOTE: No two Frosty Spiritiles are alike! Each one features unique color variations in the sky, ranging from rose gold to silver and icy blues, creating a magical shift with every glance.

Every Spiritile has its own story that inspires, uplifts, and brings a hopeful connection to life. Handcrafted in Charleston, each is made with finely ground colored glass that is hand-painted, fused to copper in a kiln at 1500 degrees, and then wrapped around a wooden frame (see more here). Spiritiles can be hung on the wall or displayed freestanding, and withstand direct sun, humidity, and even outdoor conditions. Care and hanging information here.

Artist Statement About This Piece:
As the holiday season approaches, I’m filled with joy to share Spiritile 290: Frosty with you. Wrapped up in his top hat and scarf, Frosty is a jolly soul, ready to burst into song, his Christmas lights in hand and holiday cheer shining brightly for all he encounters.

The quote around Frosty is inspired by Buddy the Elf’s playful reminder: “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.” This Spiritile is my way of celebrating the traditions, warmth, and nostalgia that make the holidays such a magical time. With Frosty, I hope to capture the feeling of family, friendship, and those simple, heartwarming moments that we hold dear.

Each Frosty holds a unique glow, with a background sky shimmering in rose gold, silver, and icy blues. This interplay of glass and copper creates a dance of light and color, ensuring every piece is one-of-a-kind, like the holiday memories it’s meant to evoke.

It’s my sincere wish that Frosty brings a bit of holiday magic to your heart and home, reminding you that it’s often the simplest joys and timeless traditions that keep our spirits warm and bright.

With warmth and gratitude,
—Houston Llew
