Handcrafted in Charleston, each is made with finely ground colored glass that is hand-painted, fused to copper in a kiln at 1500 degrees, and then wrapped around a wooden frame (see more here). Artist Statement About This Piece: Kahlil Gibran was a Lebanese-American poet and artist—regarded as a bit of a literary and political rebel in his time, putting forth ideas that bucked conventional societal norms. It is said that because of an unrequited love, a relationship with an American woman ten years his senior and this quote, beautifully illustrated on this tile, gives the reader the feeling that one’s love destiny was not dictated by social norms but by the language of the heart, which knows no boundaries.
