Accompanying the poster: Florence Williamena Hare is the town Postmistress. Every day, she totes her hefty bag of mail around town, dropping off letters and parcels with a few minutes of chit chat. With so many friends around the country and the world sending their greetings, Florence often has to upgrade from mailbag to her heavy-duty push cart. Even then she has to make several trips. But it is worth the effort; everyone is so delighted to hear from friends and family afar.

When she’s lucky, as she passes out the mail, she’ll receive a stamp or two saved for her from previous deliveries. To Florence, they are like little works of art; some of them certainly worthy of a spot on the wall. She spends her evenings tucked in her warren with a fire roaring and some twangy music playing on the radio while she carefully de-glues each stamp, cataloguing and critiquing as she goes. Every now and again she smiles, setting one aside and thinking of the perfect frame.

Artist Laura Morrish, the creator of Central & Gus, has been inspired her entire life by the wildlife she encountered on her family’s farm in Canada. Creating a community of characters based on real animals, and filled with quirky imagery and uplifting tales, the Central & Gus family is sure to bring smiles and reminders of special places and experiences!
