On the back of each Central & Gus Greeting Card is a whimsical tale of the animal featured on the front (see below). Entirely collectible, these stories intertwine, creating a much loved community of characters. Central & Gus donates a portion of gross sales to animal welfare.

On the back of the card: Petey Duval Rooster is a busker. When he was a little chick, he just loved to put on a show for his family and friends. He would set up rows and rows of folding chairs on the front lawn, hoping to draw a big crowd.

But, as an adult, he’s long since grown out of ‘adorable’, and his ideal performance locales became sidewalks; boardwalks; restaurant patios. People wouldn’t give him a chance; detached and disinterested, they scurried past. They were missing out. If they had stopped for one tiny little second, they would have realized that Petey had a beautiful gift, however unexpected and unorthodox.

As time passed, he travelled from town to town, hoping to find home. It took him a while; all the way down to the Florida Keys, in fact, but he got there. The irony is, people from all those little towns along the way now come to visit him. They just love his little show, share his joy and, as these visitors head back home, they go in search of the unexpected gifts in others (and maybe discover one or two in themselves, as well).

Artist Laura Morrish, the creator of Central & Gus, has been inspired her entire life by the wildlife she encountered on her family’s farm in Canada. Creating a community of characters based on real animals, and filled with quirky imagery and uplifting tales, the Central & Gus family is sure to bring smiles and reminders of special places and experiences!
